Today's conversation is about the state of Ukraine after the invasion by Russia. Host Walter Givhan is joined again by Dr. Ralph Clem, an expert on the region, to discuss the invasion, sanctions imposed on Russia, and where things might go in the future.
Clem holds the MA and PhD from Columbia University, in geography, with a concentration in Soviet studies. A geographer, he is the co-editor of seven books, including, most recently, Political Geographies of the Post-Soviet Union. He also frequently publishes blog posts, recently concentrated on Russia, Ukraine, and international security issues.
Clem has testified on over 75 occasions as an expert witness in United States Immigration Courts in matters involving asylum-seekers from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
NOTE: This conversation with Ralph Clem was taped on March 31, 2022.
